Staff at Albany’s SamFit is looking forward to a reopening of the location in early 2024 according to Alyssa Wink, SamFit director.
Workers are currently installing ceilings, a new fire emergency system and finishing up the remodel of both the men’s and women’s locker rooms.
Once completed the facility will have several new pieces of state-of-the-art exercise equipment in the main gym, which now features ample natural light from windows on the structure’s west side.
A fire in September of 2022, heavily damaged the women’s locker room and caused severe smoke damage throughout the facility forcing Samaritan Health Services to gut and remodel the entire interior.
SamFit currently offers Pilates, mobility and cardio dance classes in the Reimer Building on the Samaritan Albany General Hospital campus. Active Albany members that were displaced by the fire can continue to use other SamFit locations in Lebanon, Corvallis and Newport as well as the Mid-Willamette Valley YMCA.
“We are looking forward to seeing all those familiar faces when we reopen early in 2024,” said Wink. “The Albany SamFit team is excited to see all our old friends in the New Year. The SamFit team is thankful for the continued support from the Albany community.”
